~ABOUT THE TREK~

Located at an altitude of more than 15,000 ft. Goechala offers an adventure like never before. While this is one of the oldest trekking routes in the Himalayas, it isnt quite as popular. However, the Goechala Trek is gaining some popularity among adventure enthusiasts in recent times. Goechala is a dream for many trekkers and it offers stunning views of the third-highest mountain peak in the world, the Kanchenjunga Range. It is not just the Kanchenjunga that you get to witness but several other Himalayan peaks as well. The trail offers many surprises along the way like the soothing Samiti Lake, the mystical settings of Thangshing, a beautiful sunrise view from the Dzongri top, and an abundance of natural beauty as you trek through the Kanchenjunga National Park, amidst thick forests of Rhododendrons.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL- BAGDOGRA TO YUKSOM

  • Meet and greet your trek captain(s) & your fellow trekkers at Bagdogra Airport and proceed towards Yuksom.
  • Our journey for Goechella begins from Yuksom which is located at a distance of 150 kms and it takes about 6-7 hours to reach.
  • After reaching Yuksom you will be accommodated in guest house where we rest and relax!

DAY 2: YUKSOM TO SACHEN

  • We wake up early and leave for the trek after breakfast
  •  The initial part of the trek passes through dense forests, and the trail is relatively gradual. The destination for the day, Sachen, is a beautiful campsite surrounded by lush greenery.
  • The distance from Yuksom to Sachen is approximately 8 kms.
  • We will trek through an ascending path following the gorges of the Rathong River and dense forests and thickets of Rhododendrons and Magnolias.

DAY 3: SACHEN (7200 FT) TO TSHOKA (9650 FT)

  • After breakfast, we set out for the trek again.
  •  The trail continues through the forest, and as you gain altitude, you'll start to notice changes in the vegetation.
  • Tshoka is a small village with a monastery and provides a picturesque setting for the night.

DAY 4: TSHOKA TO DZONGRI (12980 FT)

  • Rise and Shine! Today we move towards Dzongri.
  • The trek to Dzongri involves steep ascents and takes you above the tree line.
  • Trek today will take around 9-10 hours but it makes up for the fact that it is also the most scenic day of the trek.
  • Dzongri offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, and the campsite is located in a stunning alpine meadow.

DAY 5: DZONGRI TO THANSING (12,900 FT)

  • Enjoy the breakfast at Dzongri and head towards Thansing.
  • The trail descends to the Prek Chu River before ascending again towards the meadows of Thansing.
  • The scenery changes as you enter a more barren landscape with views of Pandim and other peaks.
  • Today's trail is approximately 10 kms and will take about 7 hours to reach
    Thansing passing through beautiful terrains.

DAY 6: THANSING TO LAMUNEY (13,585 FT)

  • Today we will trek from Thansing to Lamuney.
  • The easiest day of the trek on an easy trail and we will trek up to an altitude of 13,858 ft.
  • The trail leads to Lamuney, situated near the Samiti Lake.This is a short day to allow for acclimatization before reaching higher altitudes.
  • We will mostly walk through a flat trail today, as we reach our next campsite in about 2 hours.

DAY 7: LAMUNEY - GOECHALA- THANSING

  • Today is the summit day!
  • This is the highlight of the trek as you ascend to the Goechala Pass, offering stunning views of the Kanchenjunga massif.
  • The trek today is about 16 kms long and it will take about 13-14 hours for us to make it to the summit and back to Thansing
  • By the time, you reach the viewpoint, the sun will begin to rise. Behold the magnificent view of the majestic Mt. Kanchenjunga and some other distant paks in their snow-covered glory, before we start our descent back towards Lamuney and Thangshing. The beautiful sunrise view paired with the accomplishment of finally having summited the peak will leave you speechless and surely makes for one of the most rewarding experiences.

DAY 8: THANSING TO TSHOKA

  • Today we will retrace our path back from Thangshing to Tshoka.
  • The trek distance is approximately 16 km and takes about 7 hours to complete.
  • The trek back to Tshoka can be steep in certain places. In spring you will find the path lined by Rhododendron blooms. Arriving in Tshoka, we will settle down in our overnight camps.

DAY 9: TSHOKA TO YUKSOM

  • The final day involves a descent from Tshoka to Yuksom.
  • The trail takes you back through the scenic forested areas and picturesque landscapes encountered on the initial days of the trek.
  • It's a downhill trek, providing a different perspective on the surroundings.

DAY 10- YUKSOM TO BAGDOGRA | DEPARTURE

  • This is the last day of our expedition as you drive back from Yuksom to Bagdogra.
  • We will start the day ecly as a long drive awaits us for the day.
  • After having a delicious breakfast at Yuksom, you will start your journey towards Bagdogra. The distance from Yuksom to Bagdogra is 150 km and will take 6-7 hours.
  • The trek ends with some lifechanging experiences, memories and photographs to cherish for life!

~CANCELLATION POLICY~

  • THE INITIAL REGISTRATION AMOUNT IS 50% REFUNDABLE ONLY IF CANCELLED 30 DAYS BEFORE THE TRIP. 
  • OUT OF THE SECOND AND FINAL INSTALLMENT PAID, CANCELLATION FEES WILL BE: 
  • 25% IF CANCELLED BEFORE 10 DAYS OF THE TRIP. 
  • 50% IF CANCELLED BEFORE 08 DAYS OF THE TRIP. 
  • 70% IF CANCELLED BEFORE 06 DAYS OF THE TRIP. 
  • 90% IF CANCELLED BEFORE 03 DAYS OF THE TRIP. 
  • 100% IF CANCELLED BEFORE 02 DAYS OF THE TRIP.

~NOTES~

  • We expect you to carry personal luggage on your own, if you wish to offload your bagpack, you can give it to a mule. Around 1500/- pp. Bagpack cannot weigh more than 11 kgs, should have waterproof cover. 
  • Suitcase/ Trolley bags strictly not allowed. 
  • The schedule can be changed on the spot by the manager/ trek leader according to the circumstances and convenience 
  • Any cost arising out of any event beyond our control like strike, bandh, riots, train cancellation, flight cancellation, mechanical breakdown, natural calamity, will directly borne by the guests. 
  • Trekkers Tribe won't be responsible in case any sightseeing/ activity gets cancelled due to any natural calamities or man made incidents. 
  • Guests would be responsible for their luggae/ baggage throughout the trek. 
  • DO NOT CARRY suitcase, trolley bags, a bagpack is comfortable and recommended. 
  • Train ticket bookings usually start 4 months before the departure dates, so there are chances the tickets will be RAC/ Waiting. Ig you book the tour late, please check the ticket status with us at the time of booking, you might have to pay a bit extra to get a confirm seat (Tatkal) 
  • If at all the trek gets cancelled due to any event beyond our control or Lockdown, a nominal cancellation fee of 10% will be charged and guests will get the credit note of remaining amount paidwhich can be used by them anytime in the near future. 
  • The climber must be fit and have sufficient stamina. (Start working out right away if you are thinking to go for this one!) 
  • Heart problem, high blood pressure, asthama and epilepsy patients cannot be reconciled on this one. 
  • Train ticket bookings start 4 months before the departure dates, so there are chances the tickets will be RAC/ Waiting. If you book the tour late, please check the ticket status with us at the time of booking, ypu might have to pay extra to get a confirmed seat (Tatkal).
